I’ve already mentioned how lip colour with lip care element is ever so hot now in luxury make up market. Recently we’ve seen a panoply of lip gloss, lipstick, lip balm and even lip oil that’s aimed at giving us a comfortable and soothing feeling on top of our favourite shades. Dior, Guerlain, Clinique, YSL, Clarins – all these brands have already done their take on this kind of lip product.
Here’s my favourite one of all though – Lip Lover by Lancome.
It’s the best, in my opinion. It’s a beautiful lip gloss with enough colour in it and enough shine. And it does have this ever so comfortable balmy feel to it, it’s just great. It’s the only lip product of the kind on the luxury market, where it does actually feel like I’ve applied lip balm first, and then lip gloss, so that I can actually skip the lip balm step and just use Lip Lover and get both lip balmy feel and colour and shine. Awesome. It has a sweet scent to it, but not too strong at all, the kind you feel when you apply, but don’t feel afterwards, you know. I’m very sensitive to scent in make up, but it doesn’t bother me at all. The texture allows to apply it lightly, so that it’s pretty lip glossy sheer or to layer it heavily in brighter shades to get a full on shiny lipstick coverage. Oh, and the package is really something, it’s small, really small, so that you’ll finally easily fit it in this clutch of yours, you know 🙂 At the same time, I can’t say there’s a small amount of gloss there, it’s just that the package is clever to hold enough without being big. Oh, and I love the whole button thing. It’s so cute and so convenient. You just hit the button, and the lid pops right up for you to pull it off.
I love Lip Lover by Lancome so much my only complaint is its range is all pink, according to Lancome, although, as you’ll see, it has some coral and beige in it and purple, but it doesn’t have, say, any red. And it’s a pity, this is such a great lip colour + care formula I want to have all possible shades 🙂
Well, maybe, we’ll see more shades in limited editions and seasonal collections. As of now this here is the range. I tried to arrange the shades in this fashion – bright pink and fuchsia, coral, beige and light pink. Anyway, here we go:
351 Pas de Prune
…is a vibrant fuchsia with quite a bit of purple in it.
…oh, and just to show the applicator, which is a typical lip gloss applicator with a slant on the tip on both sides, it’s quite good:
…now back to the shade…
339 Fuchsia Attitude
…is fuchsia with more pink in it.
337 Lip Lover
…is a bright pink.
353 Rose Gracieuse
…is a super hot pink.
333 Rose des Nymphes
…is a hot vibrant pink shade.
338 Rose des Cygnes
…is a misty purple with some pink in it.
321 Rose Contre-Temps
…is a medium pink with just a touch of orange and beige in it.
320 Ambre Arabesque
…is a hot coral.
318 Abricot Tango
…is a very light coral.
336 Orange Manege
…is medium coral.
334 Coral Cabriole
…is a light coral.
316 Rose Attrape-Coeur
…is a bright enough light pink shade.
313 Rose Ballet
…is a really light and tender pink.
332 Beige Adage
…is pink with some coral and, maybe, some beige, although not much.
314 Casse-Noisette
…is actually beige, light beige, to be precise.
This spring 3 limited edition shades of Lip Lover were released.
As impressed as I am with this gloss, I got them too. So, here they are:
400 Rose Monceau
…is a cold light pink with a lot of lilac in it.
401 Rose Victoire
…is orange pink.
402 Rose Bagatelle
…is a pretty shade on the verge of fuchsia and hot pink.
By the way, there’s a matching nail polish from spring collection 2015 by Lancome – 242M Rose Bagatelle. A post about three limited edition nail polish shades by Lancome from this spring, including Rose Bagatelle, is coming up soon 🙂
403 Rose Lilas
…is more lilas than rose. That is, it’s lilac, pretty much. Or you could make a case that it’s a very cool pink. Ever so cool.
Lip Lover is pretty and is like a lover to the lips, very tender and caring. Lancome did a great job. I might just be in love with this lip gloss. Just give me some red shades, c’mon! 🙂
